After service in the air battle over China, teh P-40 War Weary of the 23rd Fighter Group was assigned to a Chinese Fighter Pilot training unit. The plane was being flown to the school and as it was coming in for a landing at Kunming, China for refueling, it was caught in a strong gust of wind and crash landed. May 1944
